LOCAL GROWTH DEAL

Investment through the Growth Deal

for sites and infrastructure includes:

Delivery of the North-South Rail and Coventry Station

scheme to improve passenger capacity and secure an

increase in train service frequency between Coventry-

Bedworth-Nuneaton

Delivery of the Coventry city centre road access project

that will enable housing growth, support retail regeneration

and city centre employment accessibility

9

A new rail station in Kenilworth, including platform, an

accessible footbridge with lifts, a staffed ticket office,

waiting room, toilets, a 90-space car park and a stand for

two buses. The rail station is scheduled to open in 2017

Access to Warwick - delivery of the A46/A425/A4177

Stanks Road network scheme. This will enhance access to

Warwick town centre and facilitate future employment

Delivery of the A5 Corridor scheme. This will enable the

dualling of the A5/A47 Longshoot to Dodwells which will:

reduce congestion, improve journey time reliability,

and support current and future economic activity in

Warwickshire, Leicestershire, and the wider A5 Corridor

Access to UK Central - improve links to UK Central,

Birmingham Airport & High Speed 2 (HS2). This scheme will

improve key junctions along the A45, connecting the major

employment sites of Warwick University, Whitley, and

Ansty to major national and international gateways

To date, the Government has awarded the CWLEP £88.6m

through the Growth Deal to enable the delivery of key

projects that have been identified to stimulate growth, develop

partnerships with industry, and create opportunities and jobs.

The substantial investment from the Government has also

unlocked millions of further investment from local partners

from the private sector.

The CWLEP brings together Warwickshire County Council; the

Districts and Boroughs of North Warwickshire, Nuneaton and

Bedworth, Rugby, Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick; Coventry

City Council; Coventry University; the University of Warwick

and the private sector which always has the majority.

The Coventry & Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP), working in close partnership

with key stakeholders, is tasked with driving the economic growth of Coventry &Warwickshire.
