Love Wimbledon has been set up by Wimbledon
businesses to promote and improve Wimbledon town
centre, ensuring it fulfils its potential and capitalises
on opportunities available.
As one of over 150 BIDs nationally, we are here to
bring vibrancy to the town centre, through events,
marketing and advertising and by giving support to
businesses. Our activity ranges from working in
partnership with London Borough of Merton to
keep the streets clean and tidy, providing a recycling
service to businesses, promoting existing and new
events in the town centre to encourage footfall and
to provide an experience for residents, employees
and visitors. We:
• Have a smart phone app on which all businesses
can edit their listing and promote offers
• Maintain a comprehensive searchable business
directory of Love Wimbledon businesses on our
website and our phone app
• Have developed a strong social media presence
through Twitter and Facebook
• Deep cleaned (jet washing and gum removal) over
3,000 sq m of pavement including three bus stops
• Host regular events on The Piazza, bringing vibrancy
to the town centre
• Work with partners to promote community and
other activity including the tennis championships
• Manage the Town Centre Information Point (in
Centre Court) that distributes over 6,000 pieces
of literature per month
• Provided lamppost banners and additional
Christmas lights
• Offer a free recycling service for business for paper
and cardboard with quarterly WEEE collections for
all electrical items
• Produce regular newsletters for businesses
informing of our initiatives and activities within
the town centre that businesses need to be
aware of
• Regularly report directly to Merton Council issues
of graffiti, street cleansing issues, blocked gullies,
remove fly posters and stickers and generally work
to keep the town clean and tidy
• Work with London Borough of Merton on a wide
range of activities to represent the businesses
of the Town Centre – i.e. roadworks, parking
consultation, planting, street cleaning, time banded
waste collection
• Work with the evening economy to present
Wimbledon as a safe place with a variety of offers
• Support and promote The Wimbledon Way
